The Titanic Centenary Commemoration at the Waterfront Hall in Belfast on April 14, 2012 – the exact day the legendary liner struck an iceberg a century before – was a huge success for ASG and our production partners, Whizz Kid Entertainment and the BBC.
This very special commemoration in music and film, which was televised live nationwide across the BBC2 network in front of an audience of 1,500 guests. The evening of remembrance was hosted by John Humphrys and featured Bryan Ferry, Joss Stone, Katie Melua, Maverick Sabre, Alfie Boe, Mica Paris, Nicola Benedetti and Charlie Siem. Live readings were delivered by Ian McElhinney, Colin Morgan, Alexis Zegerman and Bronagh Gallagher, reflections on film presented by Kenneth Branagh, Simon Callow, Jamie Cullum and Imelda Staunton and music provided by the Ulster Orchestra and Massed Choir, with a stand–out performance by Titanic Drums which was written specially for the occasion by local composer John Anderson.
The Titanic Centenary Commemoration won a Silver Medal in the prestigious New York Festivals International Television & Film Awards and a Televisual Bulldog nomination.
