Derry City Council
In spring 2014, ASG PR commenced work on promotion of Derry City Council’s weeklong LegenDerry Maritime Festival, running from 21–29 June 2014. The festival was to centre on welcoming the Clipper Round the World Yacht Race to Derry~Londonderry.
ASG’s role was to create great interest and hype around the festival, drawing in crowds from not only the local area, but from across Northern Ireland, the Republic and further afield.
ASG was tasked to engage both sailing enthusiasts and the general public across a wide range of mediums, including photo calls, press releases, radio interviews, social media and a marketing “tour” of key sailing clubs, both north and south of the border.
Throughout April, May and June, ASG PR continually updated the public and media about the highlights of the LegenDerry Maritime Festival, such as the Beach Boys concert, Ubuntu Festival of World Traditions, Music Day, and a Red Arrows flypast over the race departure.
All articles issued were featured extensively in daily, weekly, online, sport and trade media. Interviews were secured across broadcast mediums, in particular RTE’s Nationwide and Seascapes programmes and even two night of a transatlantic weather update on UTV Live Tonight. The festival was a huge success for the city and visitor numbers exceeded what were expected.
